Many of us 'feel low' at some point in our life, however there is a difference between this and clinical depression. 

Low mood will tend to improve over a short period of time, whereas depression can last a long time and be very disabling for the person who is suffering with it. 

Low self-esteem and feeling anxious or worried are similar symptoms for both low mood and depression, however, there are also important differences that distinguish the 2 conditions.
